Dear Lebanon Borough School Community,
Welcome to another new school year! The 2017-2018 school year promises to be a great one. I would like to take this opportunity to say I am honored and excited to be your Chief School Administrator. The Lebanon Borough School District is a high achieving educational community dedicated to ensuring that the children of this town are prepared for their future. As CSA I will work to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all children and allowing them to work to their potential and achieve social, emotional, physical, and of course, academic success.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and my children. I began my career as a High School English Teacher at Buena Regional High School in Atlantic County, NJ. I moved into administration as an Assistant Principal at Loring Flemming Elementary School in Gloucester Township, Camden County. I was Principal of East Amwell School in Hunterdon County, Bear Tavern Elementary School in Hopewell Twp., Mercer County, and Redwood Elementary School in West Orange, Essex County, NJ. My professional experiences have led me back to Hunterdon County and this wonderful small district. I believe that a small community can have a powerful influence on the lives of children and LBSD is the perfect setting for this important work. I am a technology enthusiast and love to include technology into my life if it truly improves some aspect, not simply to have the latest toy. I enjoy hiking, Geocaching, reading, Disneyworld, football and spending time with my children.
I have two amazing daughters. Aynsleigh is 11 and is entering sixth grade at Reading Flemming Intermediate School in Flemington this Fall. She is a free spirit who sings and takes horseback riding lessons in Pittstown. Madalyn is 18 and will be attending Carnegie Mellon University as a Freshman this Fall. She has enjoyed Odyssey of the Mind since middle school, fencing in high school, and also sings. I share about my children with you because my children have helped to make me the educator that I am today and the experiences I've had and continue to have are something that we all have in common.
As the Lead Learner in this learning community it is my goal to ensure that the teaching and learning that occurs in our classrooms is the same that I want for my own children. I want the children of Lebanon Borough to feel a sense of belonging as they develop and grow in all aspects of their lives. This is something that we will do as a partnership between families and school because we all benefit when we educate our children together. It is key that the children internalize the habits of mind to be learners, even when we are not looking!
The new school year brings new challenges and I look forward to tackling those with the students, staff, and families of Lebanon Borough. I am eager to officially start, meet all of you and begin our work!
